MP Calls for Stourbridge Traffic Safety Scheme
Stourbridge MP, Lynda Waltho has urged Dudley Council to extend its traffic safety project from Halesowen to Stourbridge. Dudley Council has announced plans to spend £400,000 to improve safety at the Earl’s Way Island including filling in old subways and building new pedestrian crossings. The work is being carried out after a recent public consultation carried out by the Council showed that 80% of respondents were in favour of the scheme.
Lynda said “I am delighted for local residents that they are receiving this much needed investment at long last. I am not at all surprised that residents have supported this scheme, as in Stourbridge we have been crying out for this sort of initiative for years.”

“Local people in Stourbridge Town centre are constantly writing to me about problems crossing the ring road and other busy roads. Many residents simply do not feel safe using our local subways, especially at night. The people of Stourbridge deserve similar schemes to be started here and I hope the Cabinet member for Transportation will have some good news for residents very soon.”
