Lynda Urges Pedestrianisation Re - Think Stourbridge MP, Lynda Waltho is calling on Dudley Council to rethink its stance on the possible pedestrianisation of Stourbridge High Street. Lynda, who joined thousands of local residents on Saturday in attending the Christmas festival, was inundated with requests from members of the public to make the temporary pedestrianisation a permanent feature. Lynda said “Stourbridge High Street was heaving on Saturday. The Town Centre was bustling and the atmosphere was fantastic. In my mind, and I think in a lot of those who use the High Street regularly pedestrianisation is long over due. Throughout the day people were coming up to me and saying how enjoyable the day was without the dangers of traffic. Pedestrianisation has been a regular topic during the recent public ‘summit’ meetings about the regeneration of the Town Centre. At every meeting there was a clear consensus from those in the room that pedestrianisation would be a positive step. At the very least I think the Council should start to think about the possible semi pedestrianisation of the High Street, perhaps starting with the weekends. Of course, it needs to be part of an overall strategy to bring back shoppers to the high street, but there can be no greater incentive to rethink the position on pedestrianisation then the bustling scenes we saw on Saturday!”			Lynda with Mayor and Mayoress look to the next hundred years with the staff old and new at Stourbridge Library
