HONOUR THOSE IN WOOTTON BASSETT
HONOUR THOSE IN WOOTTON BASSETT WHO HONOUR OUR FALLEN SAY LOCAL PEOPLE
The people of Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire could soon be honoured for the tribute they pay to the Nation’s fallen, thanks to campaigners in Stourbridge.
Local MP Lynda Waltho has offered her backing and practical support to local townsfolk keen to see the Wiltshire town, which holds a ceremony for every member of the UK armed forces repatriated through RAF Lyneham, officially recognised for their gesture.
MP Lynda said: “Like many local people, I find it very moving to watch the repatriation of our service personnel. But the tribute paid to them, each time they come home, by the people of Wootton Bassett is as fitting as it is moving.
“We local people in Stourbridge have a proud tradition of supporting members are Armed Forces and I’m honoured to support constituents who want the people of Wootton Bassett, who show such respect to our armed forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
Lynda Waltho MP is to table questions in Parliament, to Defence Ministers, asking how best we can honour the people of Wootton Bassett as well as writing to Midlands MP and Secretary of State for Defence, Bob Ainsworth and the Mayor of Wootton Bassett, Steve Bucknell.
Lynda Waltho MP went on to say: “It’s fitting that local people want to offer their support to the town of Wootton Bassett. As a local person, and a local MP, I’ll do all I can to make sure that our support of their touching gesture is made known”.”
