PLEASANT SURPRISE FOR LOCAL SCHOOL GIRL
Lynda Waltho MP was at Mount Pleasant Primary School today, to present a Big Ben gong to local school girl, Mab Collins.
This year marks the 150th of the world famous ‘Big Ben’ Bell at the House of Commons. To mark the occasion, Parliament held a competition for school children to design an anniversary Christmas card for the bell.
Mab Collins’ entry into the competition secured her a prize for one of the top entries in the region and will be showcased along with other entries at the House of Commons. To mark her prize, Lynda Waltho MP presented Mab with a certificate and winners’ badge that only the top entries in the competition received.
Lynda Waltho MP said: “The Big Ben 150th anniversary card competition judges had a tough time picking from all of Stourbridge’s wonderful entries. But the card that Mab designed really chimed with the judges. I was delighted to be able to present her with this prestigious prize today”
Mount Pleasant Primary School Head, Jo Harthill added: “All the children produced great entries for the Big Ben Christmas Card competition. But to have one of our pupils recognised as a regional winner is just great. We’re all really proud of Mab’s achievement.”
Pupils from many of Stourbridge’s schools entered the competition and more regional winners will be announced in days to come.
