Speak Up For The Stourbridge Glass Collection’
Midnight Deadline 31st August:
Local MP, Lynda Waltho MP is urging all residents and glass lovers to contribute to the Dudley Council feasibility study into keeping the Stourbridge collection together and displayed in an appropriate venue.
Lynda said: “I hope as many people as possible will add to this study. It’s important that the consultants who have been engaged by the Council know exactly how much the collection means to us, our heritage and our future”
“The Council must be held to account on this issue. They have already refused to answer an Freedom of Information Request I have made regarding the cost of the consultation which I am now taking up with the Commissioner and I don’t want to give them the chance to wriggle off the hook by saying that not enough locals or glass lovers showed an interest or a preference for the siting of the collection.”
“I am also encouraging people to add their own submissions to the questionnaire as it is quite a narrow perspective and does not allow people to come up with answers that do not fit the Council’s pre conceived ideas!”
“I have already made the Minister aware of what is going on here and I am making sure that the Museums and Libraries Association is also aware of the deep suspicion that I have over the way the Council is proceeding with this matter.””
The Consultation can be down loaded from the Dudley Council Website. The closing date for submissions is Midnight 31 August 09
