BiographyLabour's Member of Parliament for Stourbridge:
Lynda studied economics and geography at Keele University and qualified as a teacher at the University of Central England in 1981. She joined the Labour Party in 1976 and worked as a teacher in the West Midlands between 1981 and 1993. In 1995 she became an aide to Labour MEP Simon Murphy before working as a Political Assistant to Sylvia Heal MP between 1997 and 2001. She then worked as a Labour Party Regional Officer for three years before becoming Principal Advisor to Neena Gill MEP in 2004. She was elected as the Member of Parliament for Stourbridge in May 2005. She is Parliamentary Private Secretary to David Hanson MP, Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice, and sits on the Children, Schools and Skills Select Committee. She is also a member of a number of All Party Parliamentary Groups on Chair APG Alcohol Misuse, Animal Welfare and Libraries, Literacy and Information Management, and is also Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Heart Disease and Treasurer of the All-Party Parliamentary Group Waterways Group. 2005 General Election result:
